In August the government in conjunction with many eat in food establishments are running the ‘Eat out to Help out’ discount scheme to help gain a little more footfall and food sales for hard hit ‘eateries’, who in the majority have been closed during the covid pandemic. Any food retailer is eligible to apply for the scheme, even the big daddies like Burger King, McDonalds, Toby Carvery, Starbucks, Nandos as well as 1000’s of independent outlets.

The UK 50% discount is capped at £10 per person however you can take advantage of it as many times a day you want in as many outlets as you want provided a different transaction is used. The deal is also only available on ‘slow’ days – ie Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and is applied directly at the point of purchase – meaning you will need no ‘ticket’ or ‘voucher’ – simply claim your 50% at the till automatically and the retailer will claim the voucher in cash directly from HM.Gov.

Main chains will not appear in the search results and are listed on this page http://www.goodgrubguide.co.uk/eat-out-to-help-out/chain-stores/ and personally speaking this is a great opportunity to support smaller establishments and try something a bit different.
